SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:
During his four (4) years attending the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Mr. Salkeld spent three (3) years of classroom study learning navigation, watch standing, as well as cargo handling, carriage and stowage skills. He also spent one (1) year sailing aboard U.S. flag merchant vessels in the capacity of deck cadet and able bodied seaman. His duties aboard these vessels were watch standing, navigation and general cargo handling and stowage.

During his seventeen (17) year career as a marine surveyor, Mr. Salkeld has conducted well over 2,000 individual survey assignments on various marine insured products. The majority of these products have been steel in the form of plate, coils, sheets, wire rod and pipe. The balance of the assignments include bulk grains/minerals, product/oil tankers, coffee, various machinery, heavy lifts, project cargo and furniture. He has been directly involved with the claims settling of many of these products, as well as loss prevention methods. He was also acknowledged as a contributor on page ix in the 5th edition of “Steel: Carriage by Sea” written by Arthur Sparks and Frans Coppers.
